Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck (16-26 ft) to transport goods to various destinations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues immediately.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, manifest documents, and expense records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery status and potential delays.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, ensuring professionalism at all times.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, demonstrating flexibility to adjust as needed.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trucks as required.
- Keep the truck clean and organized, both interior and exterior.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C or equivalent driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable box truck driving experience.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation and route optimization tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Familiarity with the Thousand Oaks and greater Ventura County area.
- Certification in forklift operation or similar material handling equipment.
