Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Part-Time Pool Lifeguard to join our aquatic team in Katherine, Northern Territory. This crucial role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons using our swimming facilities. As a Pool Lifeguard, you will be the first line of defense, responsible for proactive surveillance, immediate response to emergencies, and the consistent enforcement of pool rules and regulations. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to community safety, work within a supportive team environment, and maintain an active role. Your duties will extend beyond direct supervision to include light maintenance, administrative tasks, and fostering a positive atmosphere for visitors. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise aquatic areas to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
  • Respond immediately and effectively to all aquatic emergencies, including rescues, first aid, and CPR.
  • Enforce all pool rules and regulations fairly and consistently to maintain order and safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting patrons with inquiries and providing information.
  • Conduct regular checks of safety equipment and report any malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Assist with basic pool maintenance, including cleaning pool deck, equipment, and change rooms.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and promptly as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development sessions.
  • Educate patrons on water safety practices and promote a safe swimming environment.
  • Monitor water quality and report any concerns to management.

Required Skills

  • Current Pool Lifeguard Award (Royal Life Saving Society Australia or equivalent).
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
  • Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent).
  • Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Professional and calm demeanor, especially in emergency situations.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and skill development.
  • Ability to enforce rules firmly but politely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pool Lifeguard in a public aquatic facility.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one.
  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training.
  • Oxygen Resuscitation training.
  • Basic knowledge of pool plant operations and water chemistry.
