Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans across core elementary subjects (reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies).
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to active learning and student well-being.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student performance and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to enhance curriculum and educational programs.
  • Integrate technology effectively into daily instruction and classroom management.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by school policy and state regulations.
  • Foster students' social-emotional growth, promoting positive peer interactions and conflict resolution skills.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, ensuring their safety and adherence to school rules.

Required Skills

  • Valid California Teaching Credential for Elementary Education (or eligibility)
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster a positive learning environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology into teaching practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, parents, and staff
  • Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for K-5 learners
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin)
  • Experience with restorative justice practices or social-emotional learning curricula
  • Familiarity with San Francisco Unified School District curriculum frameworks and initiatives
  • Experience teaching in diverse urban school settings
