Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children safely and attentively in a home environment.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate and stimulating activities, games, and creative play.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to any dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Assist with daily routines, including homework, bath time, and bedtime rituals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized play area, ensuring toys and supplies are tidied after use.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding children's activities, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Handle minor first aid incidents and emergencies calmly, competently, and according to established protocols.
  • Follow established household rules and routines provided by the family.
  • Provide reliable transportation for children to and from activities, if required and agreed upon.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in childcare (babysitting, nannying, daycare, etc.) for at least 1-2 years.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both children and parents.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to children of various ages.
  • Ability to plan and execute engaging and educational activities.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain promptly).
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Comfortable with comprehensive background checks and professional reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with children of varying age groups, including infants and toddlers.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or relevant college coursework in early childhood education.
  • Non-smoker.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Familiarity with local parks, libraries, and child-friendly attractions in the San Jose area.
  • Ability to assist with light household tasks related to children's care.
