Job Description
Are you a hardworking, safety-conscious individual with a strong work ethic looking to build your career with a leading construction company in Mauritius? General Construction Co. Ltd. is seeking dedicated and reliable Construction Workers to join our dynamic teams in Port Louis. This vital role involves a blend of general labour and specialized scaffolding duties, contributing directly to the successful completion of our diverse construction projects, from commercial buildings to infrastructure developments across the island. We pride ourselves on creating resilient structures and fostering a supportive, safety-first environment for all our employees.
As a Construction Worker specializing in labour and scaffolding, you will be an integral part of our on-site operations, ensuring that projects run smoothly and efficiently from groundbreaking to handover. Your daily tasks will be varied and physically demanding, requiring excellent stamina, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to precision. You will be responsible for preparing construction sites, which includes clearing debris, digging trenches, and loading/unloading materials. This requires careful handling of a variety of construction supplies, from aggregates to steel beams, often involving the safe and efficient use of various hand and power tools under supervision. Maintaining a tidy and organised worksite is also key to ensuring a safe and productive environment for everyone.
A significant portion of this role will also involve the crucial task of scaffolding erection and dismantling. You will work closely with experienced scaffolders and team leaders, learning and applying best practices for safely assembling and disassembling temporary work platforms. This includes identifying and selecting appropriate scaffolding components, ensuring secure connections, conducting thorough pre-use checks, and safely handling materials at height, all while strictly adhering to safety regulations and company procedures. Your diligence in these tasks directly impacts the safety of all personnel working on elevated platforms.
Furthermore, you will actively assist skilled tradespeople such as masons, carpenters, steel fixers, and electricians, by carrying materials, preparing mixes, assisting with formwork, and generally supporting their work to keep the project on schedule and maintain high standards of quality. This provides a fantastic opportunity to gain broad exposure to various construction trades and expand your skill set within a reputable company. We are looking for individuals who can work effectively as part of a cohesive team, communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues, and take initiative to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Your commitment to safety, quality, problem-solving skills, and teamwork will be essential in helping us deliver exceptional results for our clients and uphold General Construction Co. Ltd.’s reputation for excellence. If you’re ready to contribute your physical strength, learn new skills, and apply a keen eye for detail to challenging and rewarding construction projects, becoming a valued member of our growing team, we encourage you to apply.
