Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of complex laboratory tests on clinical and research samples using standard and specialized techniques.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, correlating findings with patient data and contributing to diagnostic processes.
  • Adhere strictly to quality control procedures, ensuring accuracy, precision, and reliability of all laboratory analyses.
  • Maintain meticulous and comprehensive records of all experiments, results, and procedures in clear, concise English.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of new assays and methodologies to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including biohazard protocols and laboratory best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including pathologists, clinicians, and research scientists.
  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
  • Present findings and contribute to scientific discussions and publications as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory techniques (e.g., molecular diagnostics, immunoassay, microbiology, hematology).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
  • Solid understanding of quality control and assurance principles in a laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Certification by CSMLS (Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
  • Experience with specialized diagnostic platforms or research methodologies.
