Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including vision tests, visual field tests, and internal/external eye health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Prescribe and accurately fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other low vision aids, ensuring optimal patient comfort and visual acuity.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing various eye surgeries, including refractive and cataract procedures.
- Educate patients on proper eye hygiene, preventative care strategies, and the importance of regular eye check-ups.
- Collaborate effectively with ophthalmologists, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate electronic patient records, adhering to all privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Operate and interpret results from advanced diagnostic equipment, including retinal cameras, OCT scanners, and automated perimeters.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in optometry through continuous professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Valid Optometry license to practice in Mauritius.
- Proven experience in comprehensive eye examinations and diagnosis.
- Exceptional diagnostic and clinical skills with attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with patients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in operating and interpreting results from a wide range of ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic tools.
