Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer specializing in Power and Control systems to join our dynamic engineering team in Port Louis. This pivotal role involves contributing to the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of CEB’s critical electrical infrastructure, ranging from power generation plants to complex grid control systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of our national electricity supply. You will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, including detailed electrical design, fault analysis, system upgrades, and the integration of new technologies, particularly in renewable energy and smart grid initiatives. This position demands a blend of strong technical expertise, problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive approach to engineering challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electrical power and control systems for generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
- Conduct detailed analysis, calculations, and simulations for power system performance, protection, and stability.
- Develop and review technical specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
- Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment and control panels.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Participate in the planning and execution of projects related to grid modernization, smart grid deployment, and renewable energy integration.
- Ensure compliance with national and international electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, operational manuals, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in power systems engineering or industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Strong understanding of high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) power distribution systems.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, and other industrial automation and control technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical protection systems, relays, and circuit breakers.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Creole an asset).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (Eng.) registration or eligibility for registration in Mauritius.
- Experience with renewable energy integration (solar, wind) into the grid.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles applied to industrial control systems (ICS).
- Project management experience in the utility or heavy industrial sector.
- Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS) and distribution management systems (DMS).
