Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Electric Vehicle Maintenance Support specialist to join our growing team in Campbell River, British Columbia. This vital role involves providing expert diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services for a diverse range of electric vehicles. As an integral part of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our EV fleet and client vehicles. Your day-to-day will include troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical issues unique to EVs, performing routine preventative maintenance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our service protocols. We are looking for an individual who is not only skilled in traditional automotive mechanics but also possesses a strong understanding of high-voltage systems, battery technology, and charging infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic tests and repair services on electric vehicles, including battery systems, electric powertrains, charging systems, and related components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks to ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues specific to EVs.
  • Document all services performed, parts used, and test results accurately in the maintenance management system.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and clients regarding EV operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, especially when working with high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Stay current with the latest EV technologies, service bulletins, and best practices through continuous learning and training.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on vehicle performance and potential design improvements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in automotive diagnostics and repair, with a strong emphasis on electric vehicles.
  • Solid understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, battery management systems (BMS), and power electronics.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic scan tools and software specific to EVs.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all industry regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal Endorsement in Automotive Service Technician or equivalent certification.
  • Certification in electric vehicle repair and maintenance (e.g., Level 2 EVSE, High Voltage Safety).
  • Experience with various EV makes and models.
  • Knowledge of charging infrastructure and standards (e.g., J1772, CCS, CHAdeMO).
  • Familiarity with telematics systems and remote diagnostics.
