Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and tend to CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders) to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code programs.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished components, ensuring proper material handling.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Conduct quality inspections on finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols.
  • Document production activities, including part counts, machine settings, and maintenance logs.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to optimize production processes and improve part quality.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machinery (lathes, mills, grinders).
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming and machine control interfaces.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade qualification or diploma in Machine Shop Engineering, Metal Fabrication, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for part analysis or program modification.
  • Familiarity with various CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain).
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
