Job Description
Are you a meticulous and detail-oriented individual with a passion for numbers? RSM Eastern Africa LLP is seeking a dedicated Account Clerk with a strong focus on bookkeeping to join our dynamic finance team in Nairobi. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting our internal operations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the firm. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, from data entry and ledger maintenance to bank reconciliations and assisting with report generation.

Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify a high volume of financial transactions, including invoices, expense reports, and cash receipts, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and other financial records.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other accounting schedules as required.
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor payments and client invoicing.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Manage and organize financial documents, both physical and electronic, ensuring easy retrieval and adherence to record-keeping policies.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally) and MS Excel.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA Part I or II (Kenya) certification.
- Experience working in an accounting firm or a professional services environment.
- Familiarity with larger ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).
- A Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option).
