Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Accountant with a strong focus on bookkeeping and reconciliation to join our dynamic team in Belle Rose, Quatre Bornes. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring all accounts are meticulously reconciled, and contributing to the timely and precise preparation of financial statements. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial integrity of our clients’ operations, identifying discrepancies, and implementing effective solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in comprehensive bookkeeping, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations, along with strong analytical skills to perform complex financial analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including recording financial transactions, posting journal entries, and maintaining the general ledger.
- Conduct regular and thorough bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and other balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, preparing payments, and tracking outstanding balances.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/IAS).
- Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management activities.
- Prepare and submit various tax declarations and reports (e.g., VAT, NPF) as required by local regulations.
- Collaborate with auditors during year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain organized and accessible financial records and documentation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of improved accounting processes and internal controls.
- Provide financial data and analysis to management as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on bookkeeping and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as SAGE Pastel, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar ERP systems.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/IAS) and local tax regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
Preferred Qualifications
- Partially or fully qualified ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience working in an accounting firm or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with various industry-specific accounting practices.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and accounting software quickly.
