Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Accountant with a strong focus on precise bookkeeping and comprehensive reconciliation to join our dynamic finance team at Rogers Group. Based in Curepipe, Mauritius, this full-time role is critically important for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of our financial records across the Group. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, meticulously reconciled, and reported in a timely and compliant manner. You will be responsible for a comprehensive range of accounting duties, from the daily processing of financial transactions to assisting with intricate month-end close procedures and providing robust support for external audit preparations. Your expertise in managing general ledger accounts, executing timely bank reconciliations, and resolving complex intercompany balances will be paramount to your success in this role. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including accurately recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable cycles, and processing invoices.
  • Execute timely and precise bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and complex intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ensure all financial data is accurately entered into the accounting system and maintained in strict compliance with company policies and accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Assist in the thorough preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict reporting deadlines.
  • Support the full month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation, schedules, and clear explanations during audit engagements.
  • Monitor and continuously review accounting policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and controls for greater efficiency, accuracy, and robust internal control.
  • Assist with comprehensive tax computations and timely submissions, ensuring full compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and detailed reports as required by various levels of management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (at least 3 years) as an Accountant with a strong, demonstrated emphasis on bookkeeping and reconciliations.
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and a high level of accuracy in all financial tasks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA) or actively pursuing one.
  • Experience within a large corporate group or conglomerate structure, dealing with complex intercompany transactions.
  • Familiarity with specific Mauritian tax regulations and local financial reporting requirements.
  • Prior experience with SAP ERP system.
  • A proactive approach to identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements and efficiencies.
