Job Description
Sagicor Group Jamaica is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accountant specializing in Corporate Finance to join our dynamic team in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann. This professional role is critical to supporting our strategic financial objectives, ensuring robust financial health, and providing insightful analysis to guide decision-making across various business units. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability studies to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead and support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting exercises, working collaboratively with departmental managers.
- Assist in the management of treasury functions, including cash flow management, liquidity monitoring, and working capital optimization.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory returns, including tax computations and GCT, maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
- Participate in the evaluation of investment opportunities, capital expenditure requests, and special financial projects.
- Provide insightful financial recommendations and reports to senior management to support strategic planning and operational improvements.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external auditors during financial audits, ensuring smooth processes and timely responses.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, financial regulations, and industry best practices, implementing necessary updates and adjustments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional accounting designation (ACCA, CPA, CA) or actively pursuing one, with demonstrable progress.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in corporate finance or a similar accounting role, preferably within a large organization.
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.
- Experience specifically within the financial services or insurance industry.
- Familiarity with financial modelling tools, data analytics platforms, and business intelligence software.
