Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening of passengers, airport personnel, and their belongings using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual searches.
- Monitor and control access to restricted areas, verifying identification and authorization.
- Patrol airport premises, including terminals, airside, and landside areas, to detect and deter unauthorized activities.
- Respond promptly and effectively to security alarms, incidents, and emergencies, following established protocols.
- Enforce Transport Canada aviation security regulations and airport-specific security procedures.
- Complete detailed reports on security incidents, observations, and daily activities.
- Provide clear and concise information and directions to passengers while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems and other security technology.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, airport management, and emergency services as required.
- Conduct vehicle and cargo inspections as part of the overall security strategy.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Airport Security Clearance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain composure under pressure.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and system monitoring.
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Valid Security Guard License in British Columbia.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with aviation security regulations (e.g., Transport Canada Aviation Security Regulations).
- Proficiency in additional languages.
