Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment and supplies for all surgical procedures, including general, regional, and local anesthesia.
- Assist Anesthesiologists with patient preparation, line insertion, airway management, and other procedures as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and safety checks on anesthesia machines and related monitoring equipment.
- Clean, sterilize, and organize anesthesia workstations and equipment according to established protocols.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of anesthesia medications, gases, and disposables, reordering as necessary.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with anesthesia equipment promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure a safe and sterile environment within the operating room for anesthesia administration.
- Document equipment checks, maintenance, and supply usage accurately.
- Respond to urgent requests and assist in emergency situations within the OR.
- Collaborate effectively with the entire surgical team to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T. or Cer.A.T.T.) from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in an operating room setting
- Proficiency in setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in a related field
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to anesthesia documentation
