Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement highly available, scalable, and secure RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, Go).
- Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and specifications.
- Write comprehensive API documentation (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger) to facilitate easy consumption by internal and external developers.
- Implement robust testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to ensure API quality and reliability.
- Optimize API performance, scalability, and security through continuous monitoring, profiling, and refactoring.
- Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve API-related issues, providing timely support and effective solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging API technologies, industry trends, and security best practices to drive innovation.
- Contribute to the architectural design and evolution of our API ecosystem.
- Manage API versioning and deprecation strategies.
Required Skills
- 4+ years of professional experience in API development.
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, Go).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles, best practices, and architectural patterns.
- Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and serverless architectures.
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Demonstrated experience with API security protocols and best practices (OAuth, JWT, API Gateway security).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
