You will be instrumental in expanding our roster, contributing to our creative direction, and working closely with artists from initial discovery through to their career milestones. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively scout and identify emerging musical artists and talent across various platforms, including live performances, digital channels, social media, and industry events.
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust network of contacts within the music industry, encompassing managers, producers, promoters, and fellow A&R professionals.
  • Attend showcases, concerts, and industry functions to evaluate potential artists and stay abreast of evolving music trends and artist landscapes.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective artists, meticulously assessing their musicality, market viability, social media presence, and overall brand potential.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and compelling presentations on potential signings for internal review and strategic decision-making.
  • Initiate and manage the negotiation process for artist contracts, striving to ensure favorable and mutually beneficial terms for both the artist and Career.zycto.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams (marketing, production, legal) to facilitate artist development, recording projects, and impactful promotional campaigns.
  • Provide constructive creative feedback and strategic guidance to artists, helping to shape their sound, image, and overarching artistic direction.
  • Stay continuously informed about competitor activities, emerging industry innovations, and shifts in music consumption habits.
  • Manage and prioritize a diverse pipeline of potential talent, ensuring efficient outreach, follow-up, and relationship nurturing.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in A&R, talent scouting, or artist management within the music industry.
  • Exceptional ear for identifying commercially viable and artistically compelling talent across diverse music genres.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships within the broader music ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of music production processes, songwriting, and the creative artist development journey.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and comprehensive contract comprehension skills.
  • Excellent communication, compelling presentation, and refined interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in leveraging digital scouting tools and social media platforms for efficient talent discovery.
  • Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Existing network of active contacts with artists, managers, and producers specifically within the Canadian music scene.
  • Experience utilizing music analytics platforms and data-driven approaches for talent assessment and market insights.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current legal frameworks pertaining to music contracts, intellectual property, and copyright.
