Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout and discover new musical talent across various platforms (live shows, online, social media, demo submissions).
- Attend local, regional, and national music performances, showcases, and industry events to identify promising artists.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with artists, producers, managers, and other industry contacts.
- Evaluate demo submissions, provide constructive feedback, and assess commercial viability and artistic potential.
- Negotiate and secure artist agreements, understanding the nuances of recording and publishing contracts.
- Collaborate with the marketing, legal, and production teams to ensure smooth artist development and release processes.
- Stay abreast of music industry trends, market demands, and competitive landscapes.
- Provide creative direction and support to artists during recording sessions and project development.
- Prepare detailed reports on potential signings, market analysis, and artist progress for senior management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (3+ years) in A&R, artist management, music scouting, or a related role within the music industry.
- Exceptional ear for music and a comprehensive knowledge of diverse musical genres.
- Extensive network within the music community, including artists, producers, promoters, and venues.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to identify commercial potential and artistic integrity simultaneously.
- Proficiency in understanding music industry contracts and legal frameworks.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Demonstrable track record of successful artist discovery and development.
- Experience with music production software and understanding of recording processes.
