Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout, identify, and evaluate promising new musical talent from various sources including live performances, online platforms, industry events, and demo submissions.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, producers, songwriters, and other key music industry professionals.
- Attend concerts, showcases, festivals, and networking events to discover and assess potential signings.
- Analyze music market trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to inform talent acquisition strategies.
- Provide constructive creative feedback and guidance to artists on their material, performance, and overall artistic direction.
- Prepare comprehensive talent reports, pitches, and presentations for senior A&R management, detailing artist potential, market fit, and development plans.
- Collaborate with legal and business affairs teams on artist contract negotiations and deal structuring.
- Monitor the progress of signed artists, offering support and strategic input throughout their development cycle.
- Manage a robust network of contacts and resources to facilitate ongoing talent discovery.
- Travel as required to conduct talent scouting and attend industry functions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in A&R, talent scouting, or music industry roles focused on artist discovery.
- Profound knowledge and passion for a wide range of musical genres and sub-genres.
- Exceptional 'ear' for identifying raw talent, commercial potential, and unique artistry.
- Strong networking, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends, data, and audience engagement.
- Excellent presentation and pitching skills to articulate artist vision and potential.
- Proficiency with digital music platforms, social media analytics, and industry-standard software.
- Strong negotiation and deal-making capabilities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- An existing robust network within the music industry.
- Experience with artist development, project management, or creative direction.
- Familiarity with the local music scenes and cultural landscape of the Mobile/Gulf Coast region.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
