As an A&R Talent Scout, you will be the frontline explorer for new musical talent, deeply embedded in the local and regional music scenes. Your day will involve extensive networking, attending live shows at various venues, scouring digital platforms like Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and social media, and building meaningful relationships with artists, producers, managers, and other industry influencers. You possess an innate ability to recognize raw potential, coupled with the strategic acumen to understand market trends, audience demographics, and artist viability across multiple genres. You’ll be responsible for identifying artists with unique voices, compelling stories, irresistible hooks, and significant commercial appeal, bringing them to the attention of our executive team for further development and potential signing. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively scout and identify emerging musical talent across various genres through live performances, digital platforms, and industry networks.
  • Attend concerts, showcases, and open mic nights in Oxford, Anniston, and surrounding areas to discover new artists.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, producers, and other key industry contacts.
  • Evaluate demo submissions, online profiles, and social media presence for artistic merit, commercial potential, and audience engagement.
  • Prepare detailed artist profiles, market analyses, and financial projections for potential signings.
  • Present findings and recommendations to A&R management and executive teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, legal, production) on artist development strategies.
  • Stay informed on current music trends, industry shifts, and competitive landscapes.
  • Provide initial creative feedback and guidance to artists on their material, image, and brand.
  • Negotiate preliminary terms with artists or their representatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in A&R, talent scouting, music journalism, or a related field within the music industry.
  • Exceptional ear for identifying raw talent and commercial potential in music.
  • Deep understanding of music genres, trends, and the current entertainment landscape.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in digital music platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Bandcamp) and social media analytics.
  • Demonstrated passion and knowledge of the music industry.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently (locally/regionally).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with contract negotiation processes in the entertainment industry.
  • Established network of contacts within the Oxford, Anniston, or broader Alabama music scene.
