Job Description
We are seeking a highly talented, experienced, and passionate Architect to join our dynamic team based in Triolet. This pivotal role involves leading the architectural design and planning phases of various construction projects, from initial conceptualization through to detailed construction drawings and project realization. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of architectural principles, local building codes and regulations specific to Mauritius, and sustainable design practices. You will be instrumental in translating complex client visions and project requirements into innovative, functional, and aesthetically superior architectural solutions that stand the test of time. This position demands a creative problem-solver with exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with clients, internal project managers, structural engineers, MEP engineers, contractors, and other key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. You will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to stringent budget constraints, and uncompromising quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design projects from initial concept development and feasibility studies through to detailed design, tender documentation, and construction supervision.
- Prepare, review, and present comprehensive architectural drawings, specifications, 3D renderings, and physical models using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion).
- Conduct thorough site visits, analyses, and feasibility studies to assess project requirements, environmental factors, existing conditions, and potential regulatory or logistical constraints.
- Collaborate seamlessly with structural engineers, MEP engineers, landscape architects, interior designers, and other consultants to integrate all project components into a cohesive and functional design.
- Ensure all designs rigorously comply with Mauritian building codes, zoning regulations, environmental sustainability guidelines, and health and safety standards.
- Manage project timelines, allocated resources, and budgets effectively, providing regular progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material samples, and product specifications, ensuring they meet the design intent, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Provide expert technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior architectural staff, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in client meetings, design reviews, and public consultations, effectively presenting design options, articulating rationale, and incorporating feedback.
- Research and recommend new construction materials, innovative technologies, and sustainable practices to enhance project quality, efficiency, and environmental performance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification professional experience as a registered Architect, preferably within a reputable architectural or construction firm.
- Demonstrable proficiency in architectural design software including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
- A strong and diverse portfolio showcasing experience in commercial, residential, mixed-use, or public sector developments.
- In-depth knowledge and practical understanding of local building codes, planning regulations, and construction practices specific to Mauritius.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks effectively, and consistently meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a meticulous eye for detail and design aesthetics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with the Professional Architects' Council of Mauritius (or equivalent recognized professional body).
- Advanced experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodologies and software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable design principles, green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM), and energy-efficient building solutions.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is considered a significant advantage.
- Fluency in both English and French to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
