Job Description
Montego Bay Building & Construction Co. Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architect specializing in Design Consultancy to join our dynamic team in Montego Bay. This is a pivotal full-time role for a visionary professional eager to lead complex architectural projects from conceptualization through to completion. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving innovative design solutions, providing expert advice to clients and internal teams, and ensuring that all projects adhere to the highest standards of aesthetic appeal, functionality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for translating client visions into tangible designs, managing project timelines and budgets, and collaborating closely with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design process for various projects, from initial concept development to detailed construction drawings.
- Provide expert design consultancy services to clients, interpreting their needs and translating them into innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing architectural solutions.
- Manage client relationships, presenting design proposals, facilitating feedback, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site analyses to inform design decisions and ensure project viability.
- Prepare and review comprehensive architectural documentation, including specifications, schedules, and reports.
- Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, planning regulations, and environmental standards (e.g., Jamaican National Building Code, NEPA requirements).
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, MEP engineers, landscape architects, and construction managers.
- Oversee project progress during the construction phase, conducting site visits and resolving design-related issues promptly.
- Mentor junior architects and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and sustainable design practices to continuously enhance design quality and efficiency.
- Manage project budgets and timelines for the architectural design components, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in architectural design and project management.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD), BIM software (Revit), and 3D modeling/rendering tools (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, V-Ray).
- Strong understanding of Jamaican building codes, zoning regulations, and planning approvals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate design teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- A strong portfolio showcasing diverse architectural projects.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Professional registration as an Architect in Jamaica (ARBJ – Architects Registration Board of Jamaica).
- LEED AP or other recognized green building certification.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and practices.
- Prior experience working in a design consultancy firm or leading an architectural department within a construction company.
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
