Job Description

Are you a visionary Architect with a passion for transforming ideas into tangible, impactful structures? R.G. Construction Ltd is seeking a talented and experienced Architect with a strong focus on design and planning to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, developing, and overseeing architectural projects from their initial design stages through to detailed planning and documentation. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and construction specialists, translating client visions and functional requirements into innovative and buildable designs.

Your expertise will be critical in shaping the aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability of our diverse portfolio of projects, which includes large-scale commercial complexes, residential developments, and critical infrastructure. This position requires not only exceptional design flair but also a meticulous approach to planning, a deep understanding of local building codes and regulations, and the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts clearly and effectively. You will be expected to lead design charrettes, produce compelling presentations, and ensure all architectural deliverables align with project goals, budgetary constraints, and R.G. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual design and schematic development for a wide range of architectural projects.
  • Prepare detailed design development drawings, specifications, and documentation packages.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients to understand their needs, present design solutions, and incorporate feedback.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, planning regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil engineers to integrate all building systems seamlessly into the architectural design.
  • Conduct site visits and feasibility studies to inform design decisions and assess project progress.
  • Utilize advanced CAD software and BIM tools to produce high-quality architectural drawings and 3D models.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender documents and assist in the evaluation of contractor proposals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and architectural best practices within the company.
  • Mentor junior architects and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in architectural design and planning, preferably within a construction or consulting firm.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other relevant architectural design software.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating diverse project experience and exceptional design capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes, planning regulations, and permit processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Architect with the Professional Architects' Council of Mauritius.
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
  • Proficiency in 3D rendering and visualization software (e.g., V-Ray, Lumion).
  • Project management experience or certification.
  • Fluency in both English and French.
