Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead engineers with session setup and teardown, including microphone placement, cable management, and signal routing.
- Organize and manage session files, ensuring proper naming conventions and archiving practices are followed.
- Perform basic audio editing tasks such as noise reduction, timing adjustments, and vocal comping under supervision.
- Support the mixing process by preparing tracks, routing signals, and applying preliminary effects as directed by lead engineers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all studio spaces, including control rooms, live rooms, and equipment storage.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring all gear is in optimal working condition.
- Learn and apply best practices for gain staging, signal flow, and digital audio workstation (DAW) operation.
- Shadow and observe experienced engineers during recording, mixing, and mastering sessions to gain practical knowledge.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including logging session details and managing studio inventory.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and software advancements in audio production.
Required Skills
- Fundamental understanding of audio principles and terminology (e.g., gain, EQ, compression).
- Proficiency with common computer operating systems (Windows or macOS).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
