Job Description

Main Event Entertainment Group Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Audio Setup Trainee to join our vibrant team in Temple Hall, St. Andrew. This is a unique opportunity for an entry-level individual to gain hands-on experience and comprehensive training in the setup, operation, and maintenance of professional audio equipment. As an Audio Setup Trainee, you will work closely with our experienced technicians, learning the ropes of live sound production, from speaker placement and cabling to microphone setup and basic mixing console operation. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a keen interest in audio technology, and a readiness to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior audio technicians with the loading, unloading, and transportation of audio equipment to various event sites.
  • Learn and perform basic setup and breakdown of audio systems, including speakers, microphones, cables, and stands.
  • Follow safety protocols and company guidelines for equipment handling, setup, and storage.
  • Support the technical team during events, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly and addressing minor issues as they arise.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of audio equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of different types of audio equipment and their applications.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and seek opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in audio engineering.
  • Collaborate effectively with other crew members and departments to ensure smooth event execution.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for audio technology and live events.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
  • Basic understanding of tools and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience or coursework in electronics, sound engineering, or a related field (even if informal).
  • Valid Jamaican driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of audio cables, connectors, and common audio equipment.
