Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Audit Assistant to join our dynamic team in Samburu County. As an Audit Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our audit engagements, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records for our diverse clientele across various sectors. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of audit engagements under the supervision of senior auditors.
  • Prepare audit working papers and documentation in accordance with professional standards and firm policies.
  • Perform substantive testing and tests of controls on various financial statement accounts.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data and transactions.
  • Identify and document internal control weaknesses and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct research on accounting and auditing issues as required.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and clarify queries.
  • Participate in client meetings and fieldwork as directed.
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit reports and management letters.
  • Adhere strictly to professional ethics and confidentiality principles.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and ISAs (International Standards on Auditing).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (K) certification or progress towards it.
  • Prior experience (internship or junior role) in an audit firm or accounting department.
  • Familiarity with audit software and accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of local tax regulations in Kenya.
  • Ability to speak local languages common in Samburu County is a plus.
