Key Responsibilities

  • Execute audit procedures, including planning, fieldwork, and completion, under the supervision of senior audit staff.
  • Prepare working papers that are clear, concise, and compliant with audit standards and internal firm policies.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of risks related to financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Conduct substantive testing on various financial statement accounts and transactions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to request information, clarify findings, and manage expectations.
  • Support the preparation of audit reports and management letters, highlighting key observations and recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards (IFRS) and auditing pronouncements (ISAs) relevant to the Jamaican context.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to foster continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of auditing experience, preferably within a professional services firm
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Part-qualification or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA)
  • Experience with audit software and data analytics tools
  • Prior exposure to diverse industries and complex audit engagements
