Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Solutions Architect to join our growing team in Possilpark, Glasgow. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions on the Amazon Web Services platform. As an AWS Solutions Architect, you will be instrumental in translating complex business requirements into elegant cloud architectures, providing technical leadership, and guiding our engineering teams through the entire project lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their challenges and craft solutions that deliver tangible business value, ensuring optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions using a wide array of AWS services.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for cloud-native applications and migrations, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, product owners, and engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Conduct architectural reviews, performance tuning, and capacity planning to optimize cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Stay abreast of new AWS features, services, and industry trends, proactively recommending their adoption where appropriate.
  • Mentor junior engineers and actively promote cloud best practices and a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Ensure all cloud solutions comply with relevant security, governance, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead proof-of-concept projects to evaluate new technologies and validate architectural designs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an AWS Solutions Architect, demonstrating successful project delivery.
  • Strong expertise in core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
  • Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go) for automation and development.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and data protection strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective, innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification (or equivalent advanced AWS certifications).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
  • Knowledge of serverless architectures, event-driven design patterns, and microservices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and advanced DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Prior experience in client-facing consulting or advisory roles, managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Understanding of database solutions beyond relational (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
