Montebelo Indy Congress Hotel & Spa is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Banquet Server Assistant to join our dynamic events team in Malhazine, Maputo. As a Banquet Server Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the seamless success of our diverse banquets, conferences, weddings, and special events. You will work closely with our experienced banquet servers and event managers, ensuring impeccable setup, efficient service delivery, and meticulous breakdown. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the precise setup of banquet rooms, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and other event décor according to detailed function sheets and client specifications.
  • Support banquet servers diligently by delivering food and beverages to guests efficiently and courteously, ensuring timely service and guest comfort.
  • Promptly clear tables of used dishes, glassware, and cutlery, transporting them safely to the dishwashing area.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the banquet space throughout events, anticipating and addressing any needs.
  • Replenish supplies such as water, bread, condiments, and other essentials as required, ensuring guests have everything they need.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Proactively anticipate guest needs and respond to requests promptly, professionally, and with a friendly demeanor.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with kitchen staff, banquet servers, and other hotel departments to ensure smooth event operations and a cohesive guest experience.
  • Assist with the breakdown and cleaning of banquet areas post-event, ensuring all equipment is stored correctly and the space is prepared for the next function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Banquet Captain, Event Manager, or Assistant Director of Food & Beverage to ensure overall guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks during events.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy trays and equipment for extended periods.
  • Flexibility and availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
  • A positive, energetic attitude and a consistently professional demeanor.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 3-6 months) in a hospitality or food service role, particularly in banquet or event settings, is a significant advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service procedures and etiquette.
  • Ability to speak Portuguese fluently is highly beneficial for interacting with local guests and team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
