As a Barista, you will be the heart of our operations, responsible for preparing a wide range of coffee and non-coffee beverages, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. You will engage with our wonderful customers, taking orders, handling transactions, and contributing to a positive and friendly atmosphere. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages according to company standards and customer preferences.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, taking orders and handling cash/card transactions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee bar, seating areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Monitor and restock inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required.
- Resolve customer complaints and provide exceptional service to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role within a cafe environment.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, latte art, and espresso machine operation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing change.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent).
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- A genuine passion for coffee and desire to expand knowledge.
- Previous experience in a role requiring flexible scheduling.
