Job Description

Chwaka Bay Resort is seeking an Entry Level Beach Sports Assistant to join our dynamic recreation team. As a Beach Sports Assistant, you will be the face of fun and adventure for our guests, assisting them with various beach and water-based activities. Your primary role will involve setting up and maintaining equipment, providing basic instructions for non-motorized water sports such as snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding, and ensuring guest safety at all times. You’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere, encouraging participation, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our beach activity areas. Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide information on available beach and water sports activities.
- Assist guests with the proper use and fitting of equipment, including life jackets, masks, fins, kayaks, and paddleboards.
- Set up, dismantle, and store beach sports equipment daily, ensuring it is clean, safe, and in good working order.
- Monitor guests participating in beach and water activities, ensuring their safety and adherence to resort guidelines.
- Provide basic instruction and guidance for non-motorized water sports to guests of all ages and skill levels.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the beach sports hut, equipment storage areas, and the beach front.
- Report any equipment damage, safety concerns, or guest incidents to the recreation supervisor promptly.
- Assist with other recreational activities and guest events as required by the recreation department.
- Actively promote beach sports activities to guests and encourage participation.
- Foster a positive, friendly, and engaging atmosphere for all resort guests.
Required Skills
- Strong swimming abilities and comfort in water.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move equipment (e.g., kayaks, paddleboards).
- A positive attitude and a strong desire to provide excellent customer service.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Fluency in English (verbal communication).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic knowledge of water safety and first aid certification.
