Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze controlled experiments related to plant physiology, pathology, genetics, and crop performance.
- Conduct laboratory-based analyses including molecular biology techniques, disease screening, and seed quality assessments.
- Participate in field trials, collecting biological samples and data on crop growth, yield, and disease resistance.
- Maintain meticulous records of experiments, observations, and results, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility.
- Utilize statistical software for data analysis and interpret complex biological data to derive meaningful conclusions.
- Prepare comprehensive scientific reports, presentations, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including plant breeders, agronomists, and geneticists, to achieve research objectives.
- Stay updated with the latest scientific literature, methodologies, and technological advancements in plant biology and crop science.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards in all laboratory and field activities.
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of innovative research methodologies and technologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Genetics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in biological research, preferably in an agricultural or plant science setting.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, electrophoresis, and microscopy.
- Strong understanding of experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with field trial methodologies and plant phenotyping.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in a relevant biological science discipline.
