This pivotal role involves managing the day-to-day financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records for our growing operations. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and bank reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and petty cash.
- Manage payroll processing and related statutory submissions (e.g., PAYE, NI, pensions).
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding financial queries.
- Support external auditors with necessary documentation and information.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping certification.
- Experience working with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
- Familiarity with UK tax regulations and HMRC guidelines.
