Your day-to-day will involve a comprehensive range of bookkeeping tasks, from accurately processing transactions and meticulously reconciling accounts to supporting payroll administration, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with the preparation of VAT returns. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients.
  • Process purchase and sales invoices, expenses, and receipts efficiently.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations regularly.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Assist with payroll processing and administration.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations.
  • Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding financial queries and information requirements.
  • Support senior accountants with month-end and year-end close procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role (minimum 3 years).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Basic understanding of UK tax principles (VAT, PAYE).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working within an accounting practice or for multiple clients.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
