Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare and process payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant tax and legal regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Handle VAT returns and other statutory filings, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting processes.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams regarding financial queries.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping certification.
- Experience working within a professional services environment.
- Familiarity with UK tax regulations and VAT compliance.
