Key Responsibilities
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and manage daily till reconciliation with precision.
- Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide excellent customer service to enhance their shopping experience.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting sales floor, including shelving books and tidying displays.
- Support inventory management by receiving, stocking, and organizing new arrivals and returns.
- Promote loyalty programs, special offers, and upcoming events to customers.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues professionally, escalating when necessary.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding transactions and store operations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required for part-time shifts.
Required Skills
- Proven customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.
- Strong basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as needed.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cashier in a bookstore or similar retail environment.
