Job Description
Join our expanding team at Career.zycto as a dedicated and skilled Bricklayer with an immediate start in Pipeline, Nairobi. We are seeking an experienced professional who takes immense pride in their work, possesses a keen eye for detail, and is committed to delivering exceptional quality on all construction projects. As a Bricklayer, you will be instrumental in laying bricks, blocks, and other building materials to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures. Your expertise will contribute directly to the integrity and aesthetic appeal of our diverse projects, ranging from residential developments to commercial buildings within the vibrant Nairobi landscape.
This role demands not only technical proficiency but also a strong understanding of site safety protocols, the ability to interpret blueprints, and a collaborative spirit to work effectively within a team of construction professionals. You will be expected to prepare work areas, mix mortar, and ensure all work adheres to architectural specifications and industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other construction materials to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
- Prepare and clean work sites, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and standards.
- Mix mortar, concrete, and other compounds according to specifications.
- Cut and trim bricks or blocks to size, using hand and power tools.
- Check vertical and horizontal alignment of courses, using plumb-bobs, levels, and straightedges.
- Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes to walls and ceilings.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including carpenters, electricians, and plumbers.
- Adhere to project timelines and quality standards, ensuring efficient and high-quality workmanship.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer on various construction sites.
- Proficiency in laying bricks, blocks, and various masonry materials.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools relevant to bricklaying.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in masonry or bricklaying.
- Experience with different types of mortar mixes and applications.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Kenya.
