Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop precision tooling, jigs, fixtures, and molds using advanced CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify tooling needs, opportunities for improvement, and cost reduction strategies.
- Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of new tooling, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Perform root cause analysis for tooling-related issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and R&D teams to integrate new tooling into existing manufacturing lines and processes.
- Conduct regular maintenance, calibration, and repair of existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Stay abreast of new tooling technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques, recommending advancements where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for tooling designs, specifications, maintenance procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Ensure all tooling designs and operations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, stamping, and assembly.
- In-depth knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with various engineering materials (metals, plastics, composites) and their properties.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with CNC programming and operation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for tooling optimization.
