Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair broadcast equipment, including cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, routing systems, encoders, decoders, and transmission gear.
- Monitor signal quality and broadcast integrity, identifying and resolving any technical issues promptly to prevent service interruptions.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot complex technical problems across various broadcast systems, often under pressure during live operations.
- Provide technical support during live productions, studio recordings, and field shoots, ensuring all equipment functions correctly.
- Collaborate closely with production staff, directors, and content creators to understand their technical requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.
- Stay updated with emerging broadcast technologies, industry standards, and best practices to recommend system upgrades and improvements.
- Assist in the design and implementation of new broadcast workflows and system integrations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and broadcasting standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Broadcast Technician or similar role in a live production environment.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast systems, including audio, video, RF, IP-based workflows, and transmission technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex hardware and software issues.
- Proficiency in operating test equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform monitors, and spectrum analyzers.
- Understanding of networking principles and IT infrastructure relevant to broadcast environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high technical standards.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and stakeholder interaction.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or vocational training in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Media Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., SMPTE, SBE, Dante, NDI).
- Familiarity with specific broadcast automation software and asset management systems.
- Experience with cloud-based broadcast solutions.
- Fluency in German (B2 level or higher) is a significant advantage.
- Project management experience in a technical broadcast setting.
