Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Building Maintenance Coordinator to oversee all aspects of facility maintenance at our Bindura operations. This pivotal role involves ensuring the optimal functioning, safety, and aesthetic appeal of all company buildings, housing, and related infrastructure within the mine complex. The successful candidate will be instrumental in scheduling preventative maintenance, managing repair projects, supervising maintenance staff and external contractors, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. You will work closely with various departments to understand their needs and develop effective maintenance solutions that support continuous operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all building systems and structures.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily maintenance activities, including repairs, renovations, and new installations, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and oversee external contractors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, scope of work, and budget.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs, potential hazards, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize disruption.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, expenditures, and equipment history.
  • Liaise effectively with department heads and senior management to understand facility requirements and prioritize maintenance projects.
  • Implement and utilize maintenance management software to optimize scheduling, tracking, and reporting.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management, preferably in an industrial or mining setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and supervise maintenance personnel and contractors effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to building maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard office software.
  • Demonstrable budget management and procurement skills.
  • Solid technical understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural components.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), or a related technical field.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience working within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • First Aid and Safety certifications.
