As a Campus Security Officer, you will be an integral part of maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your days will be diverse, ranging from conducting regular patrols and monitoring CCTV to responding to incidents and providing assistance. You will be the front line of safety, ensuring adherence to university policies and procedures, and acting as a visible deterrent to potential threats. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of university premises, including buildings, grounds, and car parks, to ensure safety and security.
- Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activities or incidents.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches, taking appropriate action as per university protocols.
- Enforce university policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring compliance by all individuals on campus.
- Provide assistance to students, staff, and visitors, offering directions, information, and support as needed.
- Manage access control points, verifying identities and authorizing entry as required.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, daily logs, and other documentation related to security activities.
- Liaise with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) when necessary and assist in crisis management.
- Identify and report potential security risks, hazards, or maintenance issues.
- Participate in emergency drills and training sessions to maintain readiness and proficiency.
Required Skills
- SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding License (active and valid)
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a campus, corporate, or public sector environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to operate CCTV and alarm monitoring systems
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for report writing
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid at Work certification
- Knowledge of relevant security legislation and best practices
- Previous experience working in an educational institution
- Cultural sensitivity and experience working with a diverse international community
