Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting client dignity and privacy.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment to ensure safety.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are met.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, tidying living areas, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist clients with self-administration as prescribed by medical professionals.
  • Engage clients in stimulating activities, conversation, and companionship to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in client condition, and report any concerns to supervisory staff or family members promptly.
  • Provide transportation for clients to appointments, errands, or social outings as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, client observations, and incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, company policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Offer emotional support and empathy, fostering a positive, comforting, and secure atmosphere for clients.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in caregiving, nursing support, or a related field (e.g., personal assistant for the elderly).
  • Exceptional compassion, patience, and strong empathy for individuals needing care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Physical stamina to assist with client mobility and perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices specific to caregiving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in Home Care, Geriatric Care, First Aid, or CPR certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with specific medical conditions (e.g., dementia, diabetes, mobility impairments).
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (if required for client errands/appointments).
  • Fluency in local languages such as Somali or Borana, in addition to English and Swahili.
