Key Responsibilities
- Assist registered nurses with patient care activities, including vital signs monitoring, personal hygiene, and mobility.
- Help patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and ambulation.
- Observe and report changes in patient conditions, behavior, or complaints to the nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and other relevant information accurately and timely.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Support patients emotionally by providing a caring and empathetic presence.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and health regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Certificate in Nursing Aid, Patient Care Assistant, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably as a Nurse Assistant or Caregiver.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Physical stamina to perform duties that may require lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working in a community-based health facility.
- Proficiency in local languages spoken in Homa Bay County (e.g., Dholuo) in addition to English.
