Career.zycto is seeking a vigilant and dedicated CCTV Operator to join our dynamic security team in Gracemount, Edinburgh. This is a vital role focused on maintaining a secure environment through constant monitoring and proactive response. As a CCTV Operator, you will be at the forefront of our security operations, utilizing advanced surveillance systems to detect and deter potential threats, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and provide crucial support in incident management. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor CCTV cameras and associated equipment to detect and report any unusual or suspicious activities.
  • Respond effectively to alarms and alerts, assessing situations and escalating to appropriate personnel or emergency services as required.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs of all incidents, observations, and actions taken.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with security personnel, management, and external agencies during incidents.
  • Conduct regular equipment checks and report any faults or malfunctions promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all data protection, privacy, and security protocols and regulations.
  • Assist in providing recorded footage for investigations, ensuring proper chain of custody and legal compliance.
  • Contribute to maintaining a secure and safe working environment for all staff and visitors.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in operating CCTV systems and monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent observational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods and respond quickly to events.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) CCTV Operator licence or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a security control room or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant UK security legislation and best practices.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, though not required.
  • Basic first aid certification.
  • Experience with incident reporting software.
