Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and transformative Chief Design Officer (CDO) to join our executive leadership team in Kadoma. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping RioZim’s future by integrating design thinking into every facet of our business, from corporate strategy and brand identity to operational efficiency and stakeholder experience. The CDO will champion a human-centered approach, driving innovation in our services, internal systems, and external communications. You will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive design strategy that aligns with our corporate objectives, enhances our market presence, and ensures a cohesive and compelling brand narrative across all touchpoints. This includes overseeing the design of digital platforms, physical environments within our operations, marketing collateral, and even contributing to the conceptualization of new business ventures or sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Define and articulate RioZim's overarching design vision and strategy, integrating it into corporate strategic planning and business development.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing design team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and consistent application of RioZim's brand identity, ensuring coherence across all internal and external communications, platforms, and physical spaces.
- Champion user-centered design principles for internal systems, employee experience, and external customer or stakeholder interactions.
- Drive innovation by identifying emerging design trends, technologies, and methodologies relevant to the mining and industrial sectors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with C-suite executives, heads of departments (e.g., Marketing, Operations, HR, IT) to ensure design solutions meet business needs and objectives.
- Manage design-related budgets, resources, and vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality outcomes.
- Advise on architectural and spatial design elements for new facilities, operational sites, and corporate offices to enhance functionality and aesthetics.
Required Skills
- Proven track record of success in a senior design leadership role, preferably within a large, diversified organization.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and the ability to translate business goals into innovative design solutions.
- Expertise in design thinking methodologies, service design, UX/UI, brand strategy, and graphic design principles.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and mentorship capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in design software and tools relevant to corporate branding, digital design, and potentially architectural visualization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
