Job Description
Old Mutual Zimbabwe is seeking an inspiring and visionary Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) to lead our strategic innovation initiatives. In this critical C-level role, you will be at the forefront of identifying, developing, and implementing groundbreaking solutions that drive growth, enhance customer experience, and optimize operational efficiency across our diverse financial services portfolio. The CIO will be responsible for fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and agility throughout the organisation, ensuring Old Mutual remains a market leader in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with Old Mutual Zimbabwe's overall business objectives and long-term vision.
- Identify, evaluate, and champion new technologies, business models, and strategic partnerships that have the potential to disrupt and enhance our financial services offerings.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, establishing a robust innovation pipeline from ideation to implementation.
- Cultivate a company-wide culture of innovation, encouraging creative thinking, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development and management of innovation labs, incubators, or accelerators to foster new ventures and solutions.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
- Present innovation strategies, progress, and outcomes to the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
- Ensure innovation initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.
- Manage the innovation budget, resources, and project timelines effectively.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in innovation, strategy, technology, or related leadership roles, preferably within financial services.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver complex, high-impact innovation projects from concept to market.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, blockchain, data analytics, cloud computing) and their application in financial services.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of an organisation.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
