Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead and optimize the operational excellence of Caribbea Bay Resort. This pivotal role will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives, enhancing guest satisfaction, and ensuring the seamless execution of all resort activities. The COO will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for overseeing all departments, including Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Security. You will be tasked with identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement across the organization. This position requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in the hospitality industry, exceptional business acumen, and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of resort operations, financial management, and human capital development. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the resort's overall business objectives and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all resort departments, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and security.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data and guest feedback to refine services and operational processes.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure optimal resource management.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring consistency across all operational areas.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on operational performance, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Champion guest experience initiatives, ensuring all guests receive personalized and memorable service throughout their stay.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years in a senior operational leadership role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a resort setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-departmental operations with a focus on efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility.
  • Exceptional leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making under pressure.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and general office applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural environments.
  • Certifications in hospitality operations, project management, or leadership.
  • Familiarity with the Zimbabwean tourism market and local regulations.
