Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil engineering design projects, particularly focused on road infrastructure, highways, and public realm improvements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform project development.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, design manuals (DMRB), local planning policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee project lifecycle from inception to completion, including tendering processes, contract administration, and construction supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and statutory bodies.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and quality, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical development of the team.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, specifically within infrastructure, highways, or road construction.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for design and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
  • Demonstrable experience in project management and delivering civil engineering projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE).
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialisation.
  • Experience with drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
  • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) principles and applications.
  • Previous experience working on projects within Northern Ireland.
