Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering design projects, particularly focused on road infrastructure, highways, and public realm improvements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform project development.
- Prepare detailed engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, design manuals (DMRB), local planning policies, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee project lifecycle from inception to completion, including tendering processes, contract administration, and construction supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and statutory bodies.
- Monitor project progress, budget, and quality, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical development of the team.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, specifically within infrastructure, highways, or road construction.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for design and drafting.
- Strong understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Demonstrable experience in project management and delivering civil engineering projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE).
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialisation.
- Experience with drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) principles and applications.
- Previous experience working on projects within Northern Ireland.
