Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from project inception to completion.
- Ensure strict adherence to project plans, specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and potential delays are addressed.
- Oversee and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement and enforce rigorous health, safety, and environmental protocols on site.
- Coordinate and liaise effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, clients, and local authorities.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive progress reports, daily logs, and other documentation for management and clients.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate site teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Resolve technical and logistical problems that arise on-site efficiently and effectively.
- Manage material procurement, storage, and deployment to optimize site operations.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in site management for civil engineering projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage construction projects effectively, including budget and schedule adherence.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and schematics.
- Proven problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or eligibility for registration in Jamaica.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Construction Safety.
- Experience with specialized software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design tools.
- Previous experience with large-scale road infrastructure or bridge construction projects.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions.
